As
a child, I would sit at my Aunt Esther’s knee and learn all I could
about knitting and designing. In the 1950’s there was only cotton,
wool, acrylic and mohair in fingering, sport and worsted weight.
Yarn shops were places where avid knitters gathered to share their
experience and love of knitting. I was so lucky to have a warm and
encouring environment in which to develop my skills and passion for
creating beautiful garments with my own hands. I could only dream
that someday all that Aunt Esther had taught me was going to help me
own my own shop.
Some fifty years later, my dream came true. I opened Just ImaginKnit
in the fall of 2001 and began to share my love of yarn and knitting
with others. With our wonderful staff, we have tried to provide an
atmosphere of nurturing and encouragement, allowing our customers to
beileve in their abilities to begin the project of their dreams. BUT
the great difference from then to today is THE YARNS ARE
SPECTACULAR. Your imagination coupled with the beautiful, colorful
and new yarns that we carry make the most stylish garments I have
ever seen.
Almost three years ago, I was fortunate enough find a wonderful and
creative partner, Ruth. She has made our lovely neighborhood knit
shop into a thriving style center. Our customers ask for her
personally to create the most magnificent afgans. Her sense of color
is not to be matched. Together with yarns from companies like
Trendsetter, Berroco, Takhi, Stacy Charles, Plymouth, Anny Blatt,
Rowan, Gedifra and a multitude of others, you can now design the
most spectacular project – a one of a kind piece of fiber-art – to
wear, carry, showoff and enjoy!
